Robert Joseph "Bob" Dole (born July 22, 1923) is best known as a former Republican United States Senate Majority Leader and Senator from Kansas from 1969-1996. He was the Republican presidential nominee in 1996, but was defeated by incumbent Bill Clinton in the election.
